Belantis now belongs to a French amusement park giant. Plans for more visitors and new attractions are soon to be drawn up.

Following the sale of the Belantis amusement park near Leipzig to a French company, the focus is now on plans for the park's further development. "Together with our new owner, we will carefully examine which development directions make sense," said a Belantis spokesperson on request. However, it is still too early to announce concrete plans for new attractions or major structural changes.

The aim of the project is to expand the park's potential and reach up to 900,000 guests per year in the long term. On Thursday, Compagnie des Alpes took over Event Park GmbH, which had previously operated the park under the umbrella of the Spanish group Parques Reunidos. The purchase price amounted to a total of 22 million euros.

New era for Belantis

Belantis is to become part of the amusement park division of the new owner, which also operates parks across Europe in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland.

"The acquisition of Belantis is a great opportunity for Compagnie des Alpes," said the company's CEO, Dominique Thillaud.

Favorable location, great potential

The amusement park in the south of Leipzig was opened in 2003 and offers various themed worlds and attractions on more than 27 hectares. With its location close to the highway and its proximity to Berlin and Dresden, the location is considered attractive. Belantis says it welcomes several hundred thousand visitors every year.

In addition to twelve amusement parks, the Compagnie des Alpes also operates ten ski resorts in the French Alps and is active in other leisure and tourism sectors.
