MDV passengers are increasingly buying tickets digitally and cashlessly. New 'Fairtiq' app successfully launched.

The Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) has drawn a positive conclusion following the introduction of a new ticket app. Passengers are increasingly buying tickets digitally and cashlessly, MDV Managing Director Steffen Lehmann announced. In the first 100 days of using the new app throughout the entire transport association, 1,800 new users have been added.

The association wants to use the "Fairtiq" app to expand digital ticket solutions for around 2.1 million people in the MDV area. According to the transport company, the app recognizes the travel route by determining the location and books the appropriate fare accordingly. The app was launched and tested in Halle four years ago. It was then launched throughout the entire transport association in December. The MDV covers the greater Halle/Leipzig area as well as the surrounding districts in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
