The Chemnitz University of Technology (TU) has received funding of around 20 million euros from the Federal Ministry of Transport for the further development of the Research Center for Railway Technology. As announced by the Saxon State Chancellery, the money will be used to build a research hall at the site of the German Center for Future Mobility (DZM).
The Chemnitz University of Technology is building a research location in Annaberg-Buchholz, the Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC), together with the city, Deutsche Bahn and other partners. The focus is on the automation and digitalization of rail transport and sustainable mobility solutions. Together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Hafencity University Hamburg and the "Rail-Campus OWL" in Minden, this location is part of the German Center for Future Mobility (DZM).
"The research hall at the campus is a great project for the future," said Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU). He was grateful for the support from the federal government. The million-euro grant strengthens Germany as a location for innovation and the Free State of Saxony.
