Gebaticked, scratched or etched - the most beautiful Sorbian Easter egg is being sought in Lusatia for the 71st time. The prize is awarded to traditionally made blown-out hen's eggs that have been decorated using typical techniques, as announced by the Förderkreis für Sorbische Volkskultur in Bautzen on Tuesday. These include wax batik and wax embossing techniques, single or multi-colored as well as scratching or etching techniques.

Three such creations, which are designed according to family or regional tradition, can be sent to the Förderkreis or handed in there as well as at the Sorbian Cultural Information in Bautzen and Cottbus (Brandenburg) or at the offices of the Domowina umbrella organization in Schleife, Hoyerswerda, Crostwitz and Cottbus by 16 February.

The winners of the competition in the individual techniques will be selected by a jury of experts, the prizes will be financed by the Foundation for the Sorbian People - and awarded on February 23 at the Sorbian Museum in Bautzen. There will be a separate competition for children and young people from March.
