Kretschmer accuses federal government of inaction on migration

The Saxon Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has accused the federal government of inaction in the fight against irregular migration. The number of new refugees arriving in Saxony has fallen sharply this year. By the end of November, 9,447 women, men and children had been registered, according to the Saxony State Directorate. In 2023, there were still 22,263 refugees in the same period, and 23,132 at the end of the year. This means that the number of newly arrived refugees in 2024 will probably more than halve and reach the level of 2021 (10,222).
