The city of Dresden has to save money. This also affects the transport companies. Services are being adjusted, especially during the school vacations.

The cost-cutting measures in the Saxon state capital are affecting Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB). The city council has instructed DVB to reduce its range of services in addition to internal cost-cutting measures and the abandonment of planned service expansions, according to a statement from the transport company.

The adjustment is "moderate", however, because the financial support for the municipal subsidiary has been extended - by a further 4.2 million euros for 2025 and 5.6 million euros for 2026. The 10-minute basic frequency for streetcar lines and 60-bus lines would be maintained. The closure of ferry stations or the seasonal operation of the mountain railroads could be dispensed with.

The service adjustment envisages that DVB will not only introduce a so-called vacation timetable during the summer vacations as before, but also during the Easter, autumn and winter vacations. During this time, there will be no school transport and some lines will only run every 15 minutes.
