After the Thuringian Brombeer coalition reached an agreement, BSW state leader Sabine Zimmermann speaks of a wasted opportunity in Saxony. In Thuringia, the CDU and SPD had been willing to form a stable government from the outset, explained Zimmermann. "The framework conditions were different. In Saxony, the SPD in particular, but also the CDU, clung to old habits and power options. They wanted to carry on as before, but the BSW wanted a fresh start. Michael Kretschmer and Henning Homann squandered this opportunity."
In Thuringia, the CDU, BSW and SPD presented their government program on Friday. They reached a compromise on the long-disputed issues of peace and medium-range missiles. In Saxony, exploratory talks had failed because no agreement could be reached on peace policy, but also on migration and finances. The CDU and SPD are now aiming for a minority government in Saxony.
