The new Saxon government is ready to work. The ministers only have to be sworn in by the state parliament.

After the re-election of Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU), the members of his cabinet are to be sworn in today (10.00 a.m.) in the state parliament. Prior to this, Kretschmer will present them with their certificates of appointment in the State Chancellery early this morning. A first cabinet meeting is also planned before they go to the state parliament. So far, it is only certain that Kretschmer will make some personnel changes.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the state parliament will go about its daily business. The topical hour will focus on securing social services for children and young people, violence against women and affordable rents. Following this, a commission of inquiry will be set up to investigate the coronavirus pandemic at the request of the CDU-SPD minority coalition. The state parliament has already approved a committee of inquiry on the topic.
