According to statistics, the tax offices in Saxony have become slightly faster at processing tax assessments. The process took an average of 51.5 days in the Free State in 2024. This is the result of an evaluation of tax returns submitted online via the "Lohnsteuer-kompakt.de" portal, which is available to the German Press Agency. In 2023, processing still took 59.5 days on average. In a state comparison, Saxony is in 9th place.
The list of federal states is headed by Hamburg with 45.5 days, ahead of Thuringia with 45.7 days. At the bottom of the list is Bremen with 79.7 days. According to the analysis, the national average was 50.8 days.
The fastest tax office nationwide was Bensheim in Hesse with 23.8 days and Wiesbaden was the slowest (113.3).
The fastest tax office in Saxony was Plauen. According to the data, tax assessments were processed there in 37.5 days. At the bottom of the Free State ranking was Löbau with 71.7 days.
