Marcel Bär has sent FC Erzgebirge Aue into the international break as leaders of the third division with a brace. With his second and third goals of the season, the Aue goalscorer turned the game at Alemannia Aachen into a fortunate 2:1 (0:1) victory. In front of 22,300 spectators at Aachen's Tivoli, Soufiane El-Faouzi had put the hosts ahead after just 36 seconds in the first third division meeting between the two clubs, before Bär secured the fourth win in the fourth game in the 58th and 84th minutes.
Dotchev had to make do without the injured Marvin Stefaniak, who was replaced by Sean Seitz. The team also had to cope with an early shock. 36 seconds after kick-off, El-Faouzi dinked the ball into the short corner of the Aue box after a throw-in was deflected too short. Although Aue had more possession after that, the hosts created the chances through captain Mika Hanraths (32') and El-Faouzi again a minute later.
Dotchev had to replace captain Martin Männel for the second half. The goalkeeper, who had already undergone an MRI for a possible shoulder injury after the 2-0 win in the Saxony derby against Dresden, was replaced by Tim Kips.
Aue now became more active, with Omar Sijaric hitting the far post in the 54th minute. Four minutes later, goalscorer Bär took advantage of a mistake by Aachen goalkeeper Marcel Johnen, who allowed the ball to slip under his body after a corner. Bär only had to push it in. Aachen continued to attack, Aue defended vehemently. Bär then capitalized on a beautiful pass from Boris Tashchy six minutes before the end to make it 2-0.
