Marco Rose has called for more appreciation for striker Timo Werner. The RB Leipzig head coach explained the 27-year-old's current problems with the DFB squad and the Cup winners after the international striker was not nominated. "At the moment he simply has a phase in the sporting field, where things are not quite so easy off his foot. In this he experiences the full support," said Rose before the Bundesliga game this Sunday (17.30 clock/DAZN) at Union Berlin: "At the same time, however, it is also clear that a Yussuf Poulsen with the hooves sharpens and wants to play, that a Benjamin Šeško is there, that a Lois Openda hits, that means the normal laws of a competition, it is no more and no less."
At the same time, Rose sees an inequality in the evaluation of Werner, who "gives us a lot with a pace, his depth, his goal-scoring ability." According to Rose, the striker will work his way back into the team and also become a "topic for the national team." "I'm talking first and foremost also about the person Timo Werner, who has achieved a lot, who has won the Champions League, who is a giant type. The handling of him then relatively often is not very fair," said the coach and added: "It would be good if it is treated accordingly times around and in public so, appreciative of the person above all."
