Daniel Meyer, who was born in Halle, takes over the position of sports director at the third division soccer club Hallescher FC and is responsible for planning for both the 3rd division and the regional league.

Third-division soccer club Hallescher FC has a new sporting director. Daniel Meyer, a native of Halle, takes over the position with immediate effect as the successor to Thomas Sobotzik, who was suspended two and a half weeks ago. He is responsible for planning for both the 3rd division and the regional league. This was announced by HFC on Monday.

Meyer knows the club very well. In the 2015/2016 season, he was head of the youth department and coach of HFC's U19s. He later worked as a youth coach at 1. FC Köln, as a coach for the men's teams of FC Erzgebirge Aue and Eintracht Braunschweig and as a youth coach at RB Leipzig until the end of 2022. The 44-year-old is a lawyer and holds a Uefa Pro License.

Meyer has excellent connections and, as a lawyer, is also able to deal with legal issues carefully and competently, the club said. "In addition, he convincingly conveyed during the talks that he is passionate about our HFC and the tasks ahead," said President Jürgen Fox on behalf of the board.

"My goal is to help HFC in the current difficult and complex situation. In doing so, it is important to set the club up well for all possible sporting scenarios in the short term," said Meyer.

Both sides have mutually and contractually agreed to achieve short-term goals for the upcoming summer transfer period, taking into account the current situation. At the same time, future issues and longer-term objectives will be discussed and settled. Meyer will be supported in the squad planning by Toni Lindenhahn.
