The Dresden SC volleyball team came back from a surprising 0:2 set deficit to win 3:2 (21:25, 23:25, 27:25, 25:20, 15:9) at USC Münster. However, the team in third place in the table lost a point in the battle for second place in the Bundesliga to second-placed Stuttgart. The cards will be reshuffled when Dresden and Münster face each other in the final of the DVV Cup in Mannheim in three weeks' time.
The hosts got off to the better start in front of 1,280 spectators. They were powerful and courageous on the serve and in attack and were also very well prepared in defense. In contrast, the favorites played too passively in the first two sets, made a few too many mistakes and constantly had to chase a deficit.
The third set was then fiercely contested, in which the DSC women led by three points at one point. Alexander Waibl's team then fended off two match points from Münster in the thrilling crunch time and Viktoria Demidova, who was in good form, converted the visitors' second set point at the end to turn the game around. Dresden stabilized in all elements in the fourth and fifth periods, improved in attack and defense and, after 115 minutes, it was Demidova who made victory perfect with the first match point.
