RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann is looking forward to working with Jürgen Klopp. "For all of us in Leipzig, his move to Red Bull is a very positive and exciting thing. Jürgen is an absolute soccer icon who has an enormous amount of experience and has been very successful both nationally and internationally," said the 28-year-old in the "Kicker" interview.
From next year, the former Liverpool and Dortmund success coach (57) will become "Head of Global Soccer" at Red Bull and will therefore also be responsible for the Saxon Bundesliga club. "We as RB Leipzig can only benefit from the fact that he will also give us fresh input," said Klostermann, who was surprised by the news like everyone else, as nothing about the spectacular coup had been leaked beforehand. However, there have not yet been any points of contact with Klopp apart from in the 2020/21 season in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Liverpool.
Klostermann, who has recently been injured more frequently, is playing a role at RB again, but is no longer playing for the national team. The defender played his last game for the DFB on June 12, 2023 in the 3:3 draw against Ukraine. He has "not yet spoken" to national coach Julian Nagelsmann about his prospects, said Klostermann.
