RB Leipzig will also have to make do without Castello Lukeba at Celtic Glasgow. The 21-year-old left-back was absent from the final training session in Leipzig this morning. "It makes no sense at all to take a player on the plane with you and then treat him somewhere in between to see what happens," said RB sporting director Rouven Schröder after the training session.
He also does not see him making the squad. "The danger is that if he's in the squad, we'll use him somehow. That makes no sense. We've always said that the player has to be one hundred percent fit. Castello is not," said Schröder.
Lukeba made his debut for France's national soccer team three weeks ago in the 4-1 win over Scotland. His contract in Leipzig was recently extended ahead of schedule on better terms until the summer of 2029.
Staying goalkeeper involved
However, another regular player gave the all-clear ahead of the fourth Champions League match at Celtic Park this Tuesday (21:00/DAZN). Goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi, who twisted his ankle again in the 2-1 defeat in Dortmund and had to be treated briefly, is fit to play. "You couldn't see in the game that he had anything wrong with his ankle. I think he was Leipzig's best player that evening. He'll also be fit tomorrow," explained Schröder.
