Marco Rose does not want to fuel the rumors about Marcel Schäfer's possible future at RB Leipzig. "It's not my job to comment on things that happen in Wolfsburg and shouldn't affect our operations," said the RB Leipzig head coach ahead of this Saturday's Bundesliga match (3.30pm/Sky) against VfL Wolfsburg.
Sporting director Schäfer has been released with immediate effect because he would probably like to join the Saxons in the summer as sporting director and successor to Max Eberl. RB will have to pay a transfer fee for Schäfer because he was only released from his duties in Wolfsburg and still has a contract until 2026.
Rose, however, spoke highly of the 39-year-old Schäfer. "Marcel is a good guy, we've actually known each other for a long time and have certainly played against each other. He's a great person, he's been in the business for a while, he knows his trade. And yet for me it's primarily about preparing for the game tomorrow," emphasized Rose.
