The Dresden SC women's volleyball team fulfilled their compulsory task in the Bundesliga and won 3:0 (25:19, 25:21, 25:11) at newly promoted Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt. Coach Alexander Waibl's charges thus celebrated their second win of the season after their opening success against Aachen. The six-time German champions will host USC Münster on Saturday to round off the English week.
The hosts kept up well in front of 738 spectators at the start, but the Dresden side was also able to disrupt Erfurt's build-up play time and again. The DSC women were already eight points ahead in the second set (18:10). However, when mistakes and coordination problems became more frequent, Schwarz-Weiß fought back to equalize at 20:20. However, the visitors held their nerve in crunch time. Waibl's charges dictated proceedings from the outset in the third period, clearly winning the serve-and-receive duel and also proving superior in attack and block defense.
