The Dresden-based online bicycle retailer Bike24 has drawn a positive balance for the past year, despite the uncertain economic situation. According to company CEO Andrés Martin-Birner, the company was able to achieve a satisfactory result despite the consumer restraint. The second half of the year brought the company a significant plus.
The company's consolidated revenue increased by 4.5% year-on-year to 261.5 million euros. The e-commerce platform in Spain, France and Italy recorded a sales growth of 163%. Complete bike sales also performed well, contributing 13% of consolidated sales, compared to 10% a year earlier.
The company also saw an increase in active customers of more than 16% to 954,000, compared to 821,000 a year earlier. Despite the uncertain economy, the company expects sales to increase by up to 10% in the coming year due to the trend toward cycling.
