The ADAC expects the highways in Saxony to be full at the start of the Easter vacations. Especially on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, holidaymakers, commuters and Easter excursionists will converge there, it said in a statement on Tuesday. Both days are also among the busiest of the year in the Free State. As Easter travel is not only concentrated on the roads, the avoidance of the rail strike and the resolution of the conflict in the aviation sector is "good news".
According to the information, the A4 and A17 freeways towards Poland and the Czech Republic will be full. "However, most holidaymakers are on their way to the Alps, southern countries or the coasts." The ADAC expects particularly heavy traffic at the Chemnitz interchange, between Siebenlehn and the Dresden-West interchange and the Dresden-Görlitz section (all A4) as well as at the Nossen interchange (A14), near Pirna (A17) and on the border with the Czech Republic (both (A17) and Hermsdorfer Kreuz (A4). Depending on the weather, the ADAC is also expecting a lot of excursion traffic - also by e-bike or bicycle.
