Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports want to promote industrial sites in their vicinity at the Expo Real real estate trade fair in Munich. According to the operator Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, Leipzig is looking at an area of around 100 hectares in the north of Leipzig. It offers ideal conditions for production plants and research facilities in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, automotive, microelectronics, aerospace, chemicals, energy technology, mechanical engineering and robotics.
Industrial space in the north of Leipzig: A location with potential
Thanks to its direct connection to the 14 and 9 freeways, the B6 federal highway and its proximity to the freight transport center and CT terminal, the area is ideal for industrial settlements. There is also the possibility of a rail connection.
Expo Real, one of the most important real estate trade fairs in Europe, will take place at the Munich exhibition grounds from October 7 to 9.
Leipzig/Halle Airport, located on the border between Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, is now the second largest cargo airport in Germany. Cargo aircraft are permitted to fly here at night. Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG is planning to invest 500 million euros in the recently approved expansion of the airport. DHL Express also intends to expand its logistics hub at the airport. Critics of the expansion consider this project to be inappropriate in view of the climate crisis.
Dresden Airport focuses on high-tech neighborhood
A new commercial area is also being developed at Dresden Airport, which will also be advertised at Expo Real. These areas are directly adjacent to the dynamic environment in the north of Dresden and are located in the immediate vicinity of well-known semiconductor and microelectronics companies such as ESMC and Bosch.
