The movie theater instead of the classroom: starting next week, school classes in Saxony will have the opportunity to discover the world of film as part of the "School Cinema Weeks". As announced by the Saxon Ministry of Culture, 42 cinemas in 31 cities and municipalities in the Free State are taking part in the project until April 11.
The official kick-off will take place next Monday at CineStar Chemnitz - Am Roten Turm, where the film program will open with a screening of "Greetings from Mars".
"Cinemas are exciting extracurricular places of learning that arouse great interest among our pupils," said Minister of Culture Conrad Clemens (CDU). There, they can immerse themselves in new worlds, discover diverse topics and get to know different perspectives. "The films promote exchange and attention" - ideal conditions for strengthening learning motivation and community.
The "School Cinema Weeks" are aimed at all school types and grades. They are part of a nationwide project for film education and make it possible to experience the cinema as a place of learning.
