The Easter vacations begin in Saxony on Good Friday - the ADAC is already expecting a lot of traffic on the days beforehand.

The ADAC expects significantly more traffic in Saxony even before the start of the Easter vacations. Next Wednesday and Maundy Thursday in particular are among the most congested days of the year, it said in a statement. Drivers should therefore be prepared for longer journey times and delays.

Construction sites on the A4 could cause traffic jams

The ADAC named three sections of the A4 that are particularly prone to traffic jams: the sections Ronneburg to Chemnitz-Glösa (towards Dresden), Dreieck Nossen to Dresden-West (both directions) and Weißenberg to Görlitz (towards Görlitz). There is construction work everywhere.

Construction work on the A72 between Zwickau-Ost and Zwickau-West could also cause traffic jams in both directions. Extensive tunnel repairs are taking place on the D8 in the Czech Republic, the continuation of the A17. The direction of travel from Germany to the Czech Republic is affected.

Heavy return traffic on Easter Monday

The ADAC expects heavy return traffic on Easter Monday. Traffic jams on freeways and main roads cannot be ruled out, especially in the afternoon and evening - particularly on the A4 heading west and on the A14 towards Leipzig. The ADAC recommends traveling as early in the morning or late in the evening as possible to avoid the peak traffic times.

The Easter vacations in Saxony begin on Good Friday (April 18) and end on April 25.
