A car that rolled into the Elbe in the Laubegast district of Dresden was successfully rescued without any complications. The owner was able to get his vehicle out of the river safely.

A car that rolled into the Elbe in the Dresden district of Laubegast has now been recovered by its owner. There were no complications, the fire department announced on Wednesday. The water level of the Elbe had receded so far on Tuesday that the 27-year-old was able to get his vehicle out of the river safely. In order to be able to react immediately in the event of oil, petrol or coolant leaking from the vehicle, emergency services from the fire department's environmental service were on standby.

The 27-year-old's car had rolled into the Elbe on February 11 for unknown reasons and sunk. He had parked the car to go to a pizzeria for a short break. A short time later, passers-by came into the restaurant and told him that a car was floating in the Elbe. The man could only watch as his car sank. The police and fire department searched for the car with the help of a lifeboat. Due to the high level of the Elbe and the speed of the current, the search was called off after around an hour. The water level of the Elbe at the time was around 4.50 meters. After the flood waters receded, the vehicle reappeared last weekend.
