Saxony's farmers are planning to vent their displeasure at the subsidy cuts planned by the federal government throughout the week. In the district of Bautzen, blockades have been announced for the coming days at the highway entrances, the district office announced on Monday. As a result, restrictions are to be expected, particularly in the morning rush hour and school traffic.

On Monday, numerous farmers from Saxony were in Berlin with tractors and trucks for a large demonstration. According to the farmers' association, around 1,000 agricultural vehicles had made their way to the capital since Sunday evening.

The federal government wants to gradually abolish tax breaks for agricultural diesel, but has decided against the originally planned abolition of the motor vehicle tax exemption for agriculture. The Bundestag has yet to approve the 2024 federal budget and the planned cuts to agricultural diesel. The German Farmers' Association is calling for this to be waived.
