The railroad line between Reichenbach, Löbau and Bautzen in Saxony will remain closed for longer than planned. According to Länderbahn GmbH in Dresden, the reason for the closure of the line, which is expected to last until Monday, is delays in the construction work. Trains were originally scheduled to run on the line again from Friday afternoon.
According to DB InfraGo as the client, a machine used to compact the track bed had broken down, the railroad company said. The information about the delay only reached Länderbahn, which operates the "trilex" on the East Saxony network, on Thursday.
Passengers should expect deviations in arrival and departure times, cancellations and significantly longer travel times. The RE 1 and RB 60 lines will be affected and the plan is to run trains on both lines between Dresden and Bautzen on Friday from 12.00 noon, as well as trains in the opposite direction between Görlitz and Löbau. Buses will be used between Bautzen and Löbau.
