Increased police checks in Saxony are having an effect. Arrest warrants were also executed.

Saxony's police stepped up checks throughout the state on Wednesday. The focus was on drugs in road traffic, the fight against internationally active car pushers and violations of the cannabis law, according to the Chemnitz police headquarters. According to the information, search checks were carried out by the police headquarters between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. - both at fixed and mobile checkpoints. For example, on the highway 4 (Erfurt-Dresden) at the Auerswalder Blick rest area. The state police were supported by federal police officers and customs officers.

A total of 635 people and 531 vehicles were checked. The police recorded 208 administrative offenses, three cases of driving without a license, two violations of the Narcotics Act and one violation of tax law. In addition, seven arrest warrants were executed in Chemnitz, the district of Central Saxony and the Erzgebirgskreis. Three people were unable to pay their fines and therefore had to serve alternative custodial sentences in a prison.

Officers from the Chemnitz-Nordost police station carried out a particularly noteworthy check on a motorcycle. The vehicle had only been wanted since the morning after it had been stolen the night before. After securing evidence, the motorcycle was returned to its rightful owner.
