The flood situation on the Elbe in Saxony is easing. As the state flood center of the Free State announced on Saturday, hardly any precipitation has been recorded in the Saxon and Czech catchment area of the Elbe since Friday. Only light precipitation is also expected in the coming days, which will increasingly turn into snow from Saturday evening. An elongated flood crest had already formed at the Czech Elbe gauge in Ústi nad Labem on Friday afternoon, and water levels have been falling since the evening.

"The flood crest is currently moving along the Saxon section of the Elbe and has already passed the Schöna and Dresden gauges," it said. In Schöna (Saxon Switzerland), alert level 3 was still in force on Saturday, but the level is expected to have already fallen below this on Sunday morning. In Dresden, it is not expected that the Elbe will exceed a water level of six meters and thus alert level 3 will come into force. A level of 5.68 meters was measured at the Dresden gauge in the early morning. It had already fallen again by three centimeters by midday. The normal level at the Dresden gauge is two meters.
