Saxony's companies spent more money on environmental protection in 2022. The corresponding investments rose to around 775 million euros - a good 100 million euros more than in the previous year, according to the Saxony State Statistical Office in Kamenz.
Almost 40 percent of the investments went towards climate protection, especially energy savings and efficiency improvements, which accounted for around 231 million euros. According to the figures, 30 percent of investments also went into wastewater management. The remaining share was spread across areas such as waste management and air pollution control.
In terms of sectors, water supply, wastewater and waste disposal companies invested the most at just under 324 million euros. The manufacturing industry invested around 246 million euros in corresponding measures, while the energy supply sector invested just under 200 million euros.
