This Advent, stagings of light and music once again turned historic parks in Dresden and Leipzig into Christmas gardens. They once again attracted thousands of visitors - the organizers are satisfied.

More than 200,000 people have once again strolled through the illuminated parks of Pillnitz Palace in Dresden and Markkleeberg in Leipzig since mid-November. In a statement, the organizers spoke of "another strong season" with around 120,000 visitors in Pillnitz and were also "very satisfied" with the Leipzig balance of just under 85,000. The response at both locations was on a par with the previous year - despite higher inflation.

Glittering installations and appropriate music

Over a million points of light on installations and some appropriate music made the former 18th-century princely summer residence in Pillnitz shine every evening during Advent for the sixth time since 2018. Dozens of light and sound installations are arranged along a two-kilometre circular route to match the location - as has also been the case in Herfurth's Landschaftspark Markkleeberg since 2023.

Dresden and Leipzig are currently among 15 Christmas Garden locations in Europe. The Royal Botanic Gardens in London's Kew district were illuminated for the first time in 2014, two years later the spectacle celebrated its premiere in Germany.
