Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) sees the water supply as a central task for future development in the Free State. This is a task that could not be solved on the side, he said on Tuesday evening at the summer festival of the Association of Saxon Business in Radebeul.
According to Kretschmer, the water supply must be realized with increasing drought and after the end of lignite. Small communities with their own water supply would have to be merged into central associations. He added that it would be necessary to build spillways from the Elbe to the Lusatian region, and to network the dams.
"This is a huge task, it really is a generational task. This task will really cost us a lot of money over the coming years." He said it's about improving the status quo, about services of general interest and safeguarding the next generations.
Another focus in the next legislative period will be hospital infrastructure in rural areas, Kretschmer said. One tries to create these tasks by reallocations from the then existing budget.
