The BSV Sachsen Zwickau women's handball team have managed to escape from the drop in the battle to stay in the league. Coach Norman Rentsch's charges won the basement duel against bottom-placed Sport-Union Neckarsulm 32:25 (15:13) on Saturday. Ema Hrvatin (8/3), Laura Szabo (6/1) and Emma Montag (5) played the biggest part in BSV's fifth win of the season. Nina Engel (6) and Amber Verbraeken (5/2) scored the most goals for the visitors.
The home side got off to a poor start in this seminal duel, trailing 6:9 after 17 minutes and trailing by 11:12 (24'). The team from Saxony turned the game around with a 6:1 run to make it 17:13 in the 33rd minute. Nevertheless, the game was on a knife's edge from 19:19 (41') to 24:22 (48'). Zwickau decided the duel in their favor with three goals in a row within three minutes. In this phase, BSV goalkeeper Caroline Martins held on to victory, saving a total of 15 shots from the visitors over the course of the game.
