People in Saxony must once again prepare themselves for considerable restrictions in local transport. The trade union Verdi has called on employees of local public transport companies in the state to go on an all-day warning strike on Friday. In Leipzig and Dresden, the strike is to be extended to Saturday. During the last warning strike at the beginning of February, local public transport in Saxony came to an almost complete standstill.
In Saxony, the wage dispute is about the collective wage agreement. It primarily regulates the working conditions for employees. Verdi is demanding, among other things, an increase in vacation entitlement, the introduction of time bonuses for Saturday work or overtime pay. The Saxony Municipal Employers' Association (KAV) had canceled the negotiation round scheduled for 28 February and proposed a new date of 19 March.
