The Saxony Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs is launching a pilot project for digital self-learning in 29 selected schools. "DISEL" stands for "Lehrergesteuertes Digitalgestütztes Selbstlernen" (teacher-led digital self-learning) and, according to the ministry, aims to reduce absenteeism, develop new teaching and learning methods and accelerate digitalization in schools. Pupils are to work on tasks independently at school or from home.
The accompanying material is selected by the teachers, who are also responsible for the assessment. Assistants or volunteers can take over the supervision on site. After completion and if the project is successful in the fall of 2025, the concept will be expanded to all schools in Saxony.
