Dynamo Dresden struggled for a long time at the start of the season. Offensively, they lacked spirit and penetration. Immediately after the break, a penalty put the Saxons on the road to victory.

Dynamo Dresden started the new season of the 3rd Football League with a 2:1 away win against Viktoria Köln. After a largely uneventful first half, SGD got off to a perfect start in the second half. Christoph Daferner (47') gave the Saxons the lead with a penalty, joker Stefan Kutschke (78') made it 2-0. Serhat Semih Güler (82') scored the final goal too late for the hosts. The match at Sportpark Höhenberg was watched by 6,155 spectators, around 1,600 of whom came from the Saxon state capital.

Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm made his competitive debut with five new signings and Oliver Batista Meier, who had recently been loaned out several times. The visitors controlled the game for long stretches of the first half without really threatening to score. Shortly before the break, the hosts had two chances to take the lead. Albion Vrenezi (45') was denied by SGD goalkeeper Tim Schreiber. The subsequent corner and resulting header from Christoph Greger was cleared off the line by Tony Menzel.

Immediately after the break, Niklas Hauptmann was fouled in the Cologne penalty area. Daferner converted the subsequent penalty. The Black & Yellows then failed to extend their lead. Batista Meier (65), for example, failed to score from a promising position. Joker Kutschke did better and put his team on the road to victory. Cologne's final goal by Güler caused some unrest, but came too late from Viktoria's point of view.
