The number of organic farms in Saxony continues to rise. In the previous year, there were 958 companies that worked according to EU organic regulations, as the Ministry of Agriculture announced on Saturday at the beginning of the Saxon Organic Experience Days in Dresden. In 2021, there were still 913 operation.
The share of organic farms in agriculture is now just under 15 percent. The organically farmed area also rose to just under ten percent, more than doubling since 2015, it said. "The demand for organic and bioregional products in Saxony has increased significantly in recent years. This is a positive sign. We have invested a lot of work in recent years so that the organic sector in the Free State grows," summed up Agriculture Minister Wolfram Günther (Alliance 90/The Greens).
Till October 8, more than 50 farms of organic agriculture, processors of organic food and solidarity farms open their farms and gates and give insight into the practice.
