Organic products are in vogue - not only among some consumers, but also among farmers. With positive effects for the state.

Organic farming has increased significantly in Saxony in recent years - albeit from a low level. According to the Saxon State Foundation for Nature and the Environment, the area under organic farming doubled to 86,548 hectares between 2015 and 2023. This corresponds to 9.6 percent of all agricultural land in the state.

Minister of Agriculture Wolfram Günther says: "Organic farming is growing - both nationwide and in Saxony. This is good news, because organic farming protects the soil, our water, our climate and contributes to the preservation of biodiversity and animal welfare".

Eco-farmers will meet again this year on November 7 for a network meeting focusing on the topic of "Water management in agriculture in a changing climate". The event is supported by the Saxon Organic Farming Interest Group and the Saxon State Foundation for Nature and the Environment, among others, and is intended to serve as an information forum for farmers in the Free State of Saxony.
