Dresden's night mediators have received the last funding decision from the Free State for their work in the trendy Neustadt district. The state is contributing around 125,000 euros to the costs of the pilot project in the fifth and final year of funding, as announced by the state capital. The city will have to cover the remaining 57,000 euros itself this year and will be responsible for the total costs from 2026.
The night mediators are a communication team from the Neustadt district office that has been out and about at night in the trendy district at weekends since 2021. Its aim is to ensure more tolerance, consideration and respect in nightlife. Awareness work is to be added as a further field of activity in 2025. The team will then also support victims of sexual assault.
The night mediators have established themselves as a well-known figure in the district and contribute significantly to peaceful and benevolent coexistence, said André Barth, head of the district office, according to the press release. With the timely handover of the funding decision, an important step towards funding has been taken this year. "We can now consistently develop the project further."
