The climate group Last Generation has once again protested in Leipzig for more climate protection. The activists blocked a main road in the city center on Saturday, according to police on Sunday. After the participants only partially complied with requests to leave the road, officers removed them from the street, established their identities and issued bans.
In addition, preliminary proceedings were initiated for several violations of the Assembly Act. Three pieces of graffiti were sprayed on the street during the assembly, leading to charges of damage to property being filed. According to the police, a total of around 100 officers were deployed.
The Last Generation group had called for "disobedient assemblies" across Germany at the weekend. According to the climate group, this is a new form of demonstration in which people block roads and sidewalks without anyone getting stuck.
