The "Hour of Winter Birds" is probably Germany's largest scientific participatory campaign. Birds are counted and reported for one hour.

The Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union of Saxony (Nabu) is calling on people to take part in the "Hour of Winter Birds" campaign. From January 10 to 12, nature lovers should spend an hour counting and reporting the animals at feeders, in the garden, on the balcony or in the park, Nabu announced in Leipzig.

The data collected is extremely valuable for bird conservation because it provides information about the condition of native birdlife in settlements. Around 130,000 people nationwide took part in the winter census last year, including over 6,000 in Saxony.
