Dresden volleyball players lose against Schwerin

Dresdner SC's volleyball players lost their final match of the main round against SSC Palmberg Schwerin 1:3 (29:31, 25:23, 23:25, 11:25). For the hosts, there was nothing left to play for, as they could no longer be displaced from third place. It was a different story for SSC, who had fought their way into first place before the start of the intermediate round.

The Dresden side went into the top match short of replacements. In addition to the two long-term injured players Sarah Straube and Grace Frohling, two other players, Nathalie Lemmens and Lara Berger, had to miss out due to illness.

However, the DSC squad put in a strong performance in the first set in front of 3,000 spectators and a sell-out crowd. The hosts were able to pull three or four points ahead time and again with powerful tasks and variable attacks. However, Schwerin fended off four set points in crunch time and was then able to take the third chance itself.

In the second set, the two teams once again traded blows at eye level, but this time with the Waibl side coming out on top. However, another DSC player, Dutchwoman Famke Boonstra, suffered a knee injury midway through the set, leaving the coach with hardly any options. Nevertheless, the Dresden team put up a tough fight against the favorites in the third period until the end. In the end, however, they had to pay tribute to the personnel situation.
