Saxony wants to expand its relations with Armenia and is taking advantage of a visit to Dresden by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan. The President of the National Assembly is expected to arrive in the Saxon capital next Wednesday, the State Chancellery announced on Friday. In a conversation with Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU), it is to be about opportunities for cooperation, especially in the areas of business, culture and science.

"The visit of the Armenian parliamentary president is a great honor for the Free State. Together we want to expand the exchange between pupils, students and cultural workers. An important pillar of our cooperation is the very committed Armenian community in Leipzig," Kretschmer explained.

Simonyan will be accompanied by the Armenian ambassador to Germany, Viktor Yengibaryan, and a delegation of about twenty people. A meeting with Saxony's parliamentary president Matthias Rößler (CDU) is also planned.
