More than half a year after the partial collapse of the Carola Bridge, the last bridge joint has also been found. The second joint of the collapsed bridge C was recovered on Monday, the city announced. In addition to a push boat, an excavator was also used. A specialist company had previously located the joint with the help of an echo sounder system.
A section of the bridge with streetcar tracks and cycle path, which was put into operation in 1971, collapsed unexpectedly on the night of September 11. The Elbe crossing has to be completely demolished. The city is planning a replacement structure.
