On March 29, 2025, there was a dramatic chase in Belgern-Schildau that ended in a traffic accident. It all began at 12:15 p.m. in Bahnhofstraße when a patrol car crew from Torgau police station wanted to carry out a general traffic check on a Honda light motorcycle and its rider. However, the 20-year-old rider did not stop but tried to escape the check.
During the escape, the fleeing motorcycle came into contact with the following patrol car. The rider of the motorcycle was slightly injured and treated as an outpatient. During the check, it turned out that he did not have a valid driver's license and a drug test showed a positive result for cocaine and cannabis. In addition, a small amount of a white substance suspected of being a narcotic and a prohibited one-handed knife were found on his person.
Both vehicles sustained property damage totaling around 5,000 euros. A neighboring police station recorded the accident and is now investigating the exact course of events. The charges against the young man are extensive: they range from endangering road traffic and illegal motor vehicle racing to violations of the Narcotics and Weapons Act.
On the same day, around nine hours later, at 9:40 p.m., another incident occurred in Bad Lausick. A 35-year-old driver of a VW Caddy was driving on the B176 towards Borna. While turning, he left the road and slid into an adjacent embankment, causing property damage of around 3,500 euros to a fence and the car. This driver also did not have a valid driver's license.
A breath alcohol measurement showed a high value of 1.82 per mille, and a drug test was also positive for cannabis. The police ordered a blood sample to be taken and filed a charge of endangering road traffic. Both incidents impressively demonstrate the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and without a driver's license.
