The children's book "Das NEINhorn" by Marc-Uwe Kling is being made into a film - with funding from the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM). The project will receive production funding of 250,000 euros, the MDM announced in Leipzig on Thursday. Kling is directing the film together with Michael Sieber and Johannes Weiland.
The Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung is currently supporting the production and development of new films with almost four million euros. The awards committee has selected a total of 32 projects for this.
The highest individual grant of 450,000 euros goes to blue eyes Fiction for the second part of the family entertainment trilogy "Woodwalkers 2". An animated film for adults - "Adam" by screenwriter and director Ron Segal - is being supported with 400,000 euros.
In addition to production funding, grants are also awarded for project and material development. Czech author Jaroslav Rudis, who is working on a screenplay for a drama series based on his successful novel "Winterberg's Last Journey", is one of the beneficiaries of the latter.
