A girl, a senior citizen and the 19-year-old himself were seriously injured in an accident involving a 19-year-old cyclist in Leipzig. The man was riding his bicycle in the Grünau-Mitte district on Tuesday on the pedestrian path, which is also open to cyclists, the police said. His attempt to avoid the five-year-old girl was unsuccessful and a collision occurred. The cyclist also hit the 93-year-old pedestrian.
The 93-year-old suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. The cyclist and the child were only slightly injured, it was reported. There was no damage to property. The police carried out a drug test on the 19-year-old. The test reacted positively to cannabis, so that a blood sample was finally taken. The police are now investigating the 19-year-old.
