A diamond or carpet python lay motionless on a cycle path in Zittau on Saturday. The non-venomous constrictor was taken into the care of experts, as there was a possibility that the apparently dead animal could suddenly come back to life in the warmth.
However, according to the police, this was not the case. They are now investigating the violation of the Animal Welfare Act and are asking for information, especially about the owner of the exotic snake and the circumstances. "It is illegal in Germany to release such a snake into the wild." Information can be obtained from the Zittau police station on 03583 620 or any other police station.
