Drivers spent significantly longer in traffic jams on Saxony's freeways last year. According to ADAC Saxony on Tuesday, there were 12,337 hours of traffic jams on the freeways in the state last year. In 2022, the figure was 10,308 hours. According to the data, traffic jams totalled almost 30,000 kilometers last year, an increase of more than 2,500 kilometers compared to 2022.
The ADAC cited roadworks as the main reason for this. The A4 between the Nossen junction and the Elbe bridge in Dresden was particularly affected. In the area with the highest traffic load in the Free State, road damage had to be repaired in three construction zones. Between the Siebenlehn junction and the Dresden-Altstadt junction alone, the ADAC recorded 755 traffic jams in the direction of Dresden in 2023, with a total traffic jam length of almost 3000 kilometers and a congestion duration of 1562 hours.
The most congested days of the year in Saxony were 30 May with around 54 kilometers of traffic jams. May with around 54 kilometers of congestion on the A4 and April 6 with 44 kilometers of congestion on the A4 between AS Berbersdorf and the Ludwigsdorf border crossing.
