Germany's first industrial production facility for green aviation fuel is to be built in Leipzig. Together with technology company Johnson Matthey and energy group bp, a plant is to be built to produce 50,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel annually, a spokeswoman for the company EDL Anlagenbau said Monday in Leipzig. EDL is the service provider in charge of the project. Previously, the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" (MZ) had reported.

The first part of the plant is to go into operation in 2027. To the investment height the spokeswoman did not want to express itself. The MZ had reported a volume of 700 million euros.
