After months of restrictions on S-Bahn services in the Leipzig region, services on the S1 and S6 lines resumed as normal on Monday. This marked the end of the timetable adjustments that had been in place since mid-October, Deutsche Bahn announced in Leipzig on Monday. Due to staff shortages, services on several S-Bahn lines were reduced in mid-October.
The staffing situation has now stabilized again, partly due to the "training and recruitment offensive". Last year, DB Regio trained more than 80 new colleagues in initial training as train drivers or customer advisors for the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland alone. The railroad is continuing its efforts to recruit new staff. For example, around 775 trainees and students are to be recruited this year in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
Accordingly, more than 25,000 positions were filled across all areas nationwide.
