The expansion of solar installations has increased even more this year than in previous years. According to data from the comparison portal for solar installations "Selfmade Energy", the growth rate in the first nine months of the year was already 30 percent in Saxony-Anhalt, 31.4 percent in Thuringia and 33.4 percent in Saxony compared to the previous year as a whole. In previous years, the growth rates were between around 15 and 25 percent.

Tim Rosengart, Managing Director of the comparison portal, explained that last year, many homeowners wanted to install a solar system as quickly as possible due to rising energy prices. Many companies took advantage of this, in some cases shamelessly, and prices are now falling again.

With their growth rates, the eastern German states are slightly above the national average of around 30 percent this year. The city states of Hamburg and Berlin in particular recorded strong growth in solar installations of more than 40 percent. However, the total number of solar systems installed in Saxony (55,700), Thuringia (32,000) and Saxony-Anhalt (42,750) is still low in comparison. According to the comparison portal, more than 436,000 solar systems are installed in North Rhine-Westphalia.
